Milford Sound to Queenstown...
First glimpses of Milford Sound.
What a beautiful day for a cruise! It's apparently really rare to get a sunny day in Milford.
Pirates?
We can barely see the scenery through all that sun!
These cliffs are covered with countless waterfalls when its raining.
Now they're just covered with countless little plants hanging on for dear life!
There's still some water flowing... melting snow, I suspect.
A little seal.
Relaxing on the deck, during the return cruise back to Milford.
We had some beautiful starry nights down South, complete with perfect views of the Southern Cross and the Milky Way.
Some morning 'frost'
Parting shot of Milford Sound... low tide is pretty noticeable.
The scenery around here makes for some pretty distracting driving!
Nearly to Queenstown...
We actually ended up staying in the next town over from Queenstown... Arrowtown.
Despite it's being "excessively quaint" (according to the Lonely Planet), I liked Arrowtown better than Queenstown. It had the same scenery, without the massive numbers of people.
On the foreshore in Queestown.
Everything you've heard about Queenstown as an adventure capital is absolutely correct. It seemed like every time I turned around, there was someone else flinging themselves off of some ridiculous height. And with the number of tourists in rental vehicles, even crossing the street in Queenstown can be an extreme sport.
Ro-WEEEEEEna!
