In July 2008 I took a week off of work to trek 'Down South' with my parents, my little sister, and Kate in an RV. It was pretty cramped quarters, but the scenery was well worth it! I'll let the photos explain the rest...
Dad, looking really happy to be out of Christchurch with the RV.
Mom was our resident chef... see the amazing kitchen?!
The other enthused passengers...
The sea, along the road to Dunedin.
As it turns out, the road to Dunedin can get pretty icy... to the point where they'll close it for evening! We were forced to turn back, shortly after this scene. Fine, a night in Moeraki it is...
The sunrise over the bay in Moeraki the next morning was worth the delay.
My turn to do some driving... off to Te Anau!
Counting sheep isn't just for sleepy time anymore.
The weather in Te Anau wasn't all that impressive. Visibility was pretty low... apparently there's mountains out there somewhere.
But Katie did get to tame a trout. So at least the day wasn't completely lost.
Part of the road to Milford Sound.
Another part of the road to Milford Sound.
The Mirror Lakes.
Mountains kept appearing randomly out of the top of the clouds... pretty cool!
The Chasm. Yes, it's really that blurry in real life.
Kate thinks The Chasm is as amazing as Britney did!
