Day 1: Dublin. We arrived at ~8:30am after an all-night flight from Chicago, and hit the ground running. We picked up our rental car, a bright green Renault, at the airport and started heading into town just in time for rush hour! After much confusion over Dublin's narrow streets and "one way" alleyways we checked into our hotel in Temple Bar (a main bar/shopping district) and headed straight for the Guinness Brewery. The self-guided tour was actually not at the brewery itself, but at a nearby facility they call The Guinness Storehouse. The tour was pretty good, and so was the Guinness! The rest of the day was spent checking out the town and some good restaurants... mmm... Irish stew! That night we went, among other places, to a brewpub called The Porterhouse. They had some pretty entertaining live music and LOTS of great beer... both local brew and a selection of beers from around the world.

Our first Irish meal was at The Brazen Head, apparently one of the oldest pubs in Dublin.

Powers whiskey anyone?
