Well, Florida was fun while it lasted! I lived down there in Tallahassee from March '05 to April '06. I got to see a lot of the northern half of the state as well as some of Georgia (notably Savannah, where my bro lives), the Carolinas and other southern states. Here's a couple of pages of photos from my days in Florida:
Florida isn't always sunshine and good times. An early February rainstorm turned many of Tallahassee's streets into rivers, and some into lakes!
...and some idiots still tried to drive through it!
A Squirrel at Maclay Gardens State Park. This park is cool because its located about ten minutes from downtown Tallahassee.
The view out of my airplane window on the way back to Tallahassee after Thanksgiving.
I was photographing some cool flowers behind my apartment building one day... I was all aimed and focused, with my finger on the trigger, when this butterfly flew in and landed on my subject flower. I pulled the trigger and the butterfly flew off... never to be seen again! I later edited the color and contrast of the photo in Photoshop to produce this image... pretty nice I think.
Another color-adjusted photo... this time a flower at Maclay Gardens State Park
This is my favorite Gulf beach. It's located on St. Joseph's peninsula, about 2 hours west from Tallahassee. The state park road ends about 7 miles from the end of the peninsula. So, if one is motivated enough to do a little walking they can have literally miles and miles of beautiful beach all to themselves. I think its worth the drive and the hike to find solitude on a beach in Florida.
A beached jellyfish at St. Joe's beach.
The Purdom Power Plant. I did some work at one of WRS's field sites near here. I had this beautiful scene to look forward to each morning... aren't you jealous?
Tallahassee put on a pretty awesome fireworks show on the 4th of July this year. They took place at Tom Brown park, a city park about 5 minutes down the road from my place. The park is pretty cool... It actually has some decent bike trails.
Part of the crowd at Tom Brown park during the 4th of July celebration.
